A Cabin In The Woods
We recently went and looked at a cabin in the woods. It is a cute little cabin and yes it is little, only 12′ by 18′ but two stories. It has no running water, a wood stove and limited solar power. It sits on an acre lot that is surrounded with woods and other little cabins and cottages where people live and play!
You may be thinking “what a wonderful little get away” BUT we were thinking “what a wonderful place to call home.” Just call us crazy but we would love to live in a place like this. Well … kind of like this! We really want to build a straw bale and cob home with solar power and a wood cook s
tove!
Our hopes to have a little land for the children to run, to build our homestead and have a little farm. Just like these beautiful homesteads in the mountains that we visit frequently. Reading about the people who use to live there and imagining how life was in the day!
But sometimes I wonder if our dreams will happen. Or by the time they do will I just be too old to enjoy them? Sometimes I wish I had figured out how I wanted my life to be at a much younger age, maybe I would be clos
er to reaching my goals. But I guess it has been the process of my life that has brought me to this point and shaped my dreams!
So for now we visit beautiful places and enjoy the peaceful simplicity while we dream of our perfect place to call home!

I recently got a pellet stove. The best part is you don’t need to spend a ton of money. I got mine on craigslist for $500. This stove keeps my house very warm.
Oh, it is fun to dream. And I hope it comes true for you!

I’m drooling over the pics and idea of the cabin in the woods.
Most people would call me crazy, too, but that’s what I’m awantin’. My inspiration for simple living originated from what is now my favorite show, Little House on the Prairie. We’ll know at the end of this year, when my husband finishes college and new job opportunities open up, whether or not God sees it fit to send us to the mountains. We lived in Idaho for 5 years and we loved it. We’ve been in Texas for 5 years. That’s enough out of me…
